Statement of need:

This two - days workshop/certification course on Kinesio Taping (KT1&KT2) is open to and designed for professionals in an advanced healthcare setting. Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTPs) are licensed professional health care and therapy providers, including physical therapist , athletic trainers, occupational therapist and in addition to chiropractic doctors, health care providers and other allied healthcare professionals. The overall objective is to provide every medical practitioner with premier intellectual support .

This learning activity aims to:

This two-days workshop  is open to and designed for professionals in an advanced healthcare setting. Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioners (CKTPs) are licensed professional health care and therapy providers, including physical therapists, athletic trainers, occupational therapists and in addition to chiropractic doctors, health care providers and other allied healthcare professionals. The certification can be achieved after participants attend fundamental and advanced course. The overall objective is to provide every medical practitioner with premier intellectual support through expert instruction and state-of-the-art database tutorials.

 

The Kinesio Taping Method (KTM) and Kinesio Tex Tape are used to:

  • Re-educate the neuromuscular system
  • Reduce pain & sprain
  • Support performance
  • Prevent further injury
  • Promote improved circulation and healing
  • Improve functional movement and positioning

KT1  - Fundamental Course  

8-hour course

  • designed to introduce practitioners to the KTM
  • covers the five major physiological systems
  • skin
  • muscle
  • fascia
  • circulatory/lymphatic
  • joint
  • features lab sessions to practice KTM applications
  • completion will prepare attendees to relax overuse syndrome, stimulate weak muscles and decrease pain and swelling

 

KT2 – Advanced Concepts and Corrective Techniques

8-hour course

  • builds on material learned in KT1
  • covers the six corrective techniques – mechanical, functional, space, fascia, ligament/tendon and lymphatic
  • features lab sessions to practice KTM applications
  • completion will prepare attendees to apply the KTM to orthopedic and neurological conditions

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Towards the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts of Kinesio Taping.
  • Review muscular anatomy as it is related to Kinesio Taping.
  • Explain and apply the concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method.
  • Recognize the principles of Kinesio Taping application.
  • Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided laboratory sessions.
  • Demonstrate application skills during lab sessions.
  • Practice the various cutting techniques and their clinical application.
  • Apply Kinesio Taping method to relax and stimulate muscles.
  • Apply Kinesio Taping methods for pain, swelling, joint mobility and stability.
  • Apply various taping techniques for treatment of the spine, and upper/ lower
  • extremity dysfunction

Apply various taping techniques for treatment of unique conditions using the concepts  and principals of the Kinesio Taping Method

Dr. Ghazi graduated from Kuwait University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He practiced for two years as Staff Physiotherapist in Salmanya Medical Center, Bahrain. In 1997, Dr. Ghazi joined  in Master of Science Program with MGH Institute of Health Profession, Boston, USA in 1997 and post graduated in 1999. In 2002, Dr. Ghazi completed the DPT program in MGH Institute of Health Profession. In 2004, Dr. Ghazi started his own Physiotherapy Clinic at Bahrain, where he still continues to work . He is also Chief Physiotherapist in Region 3, Ministry of Health in Bahrain. His main interests are Sport injuries and Orthopedic Physical Therapy with special focus in the spine. He modified a novel technique in treating disc-related disorders, utilizing H-reflex and EMG analysis in 2001 and is still working with it. Ghazi was the president of the Bahrain Physical Therapy Association two times in 2002 and 2005. Dr. Ghazi is Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor since 2013 and taught more than 50 Kinesio Taping courses in GCC countries, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran. Dr. Ghazi is also an instructor in David Simons Academy, Switzerland since 2015 and taught dry needling courses in GCC, Turkey and Iran.
